There are several aspects to registration. This is a critical element if those trained may be activated and asked to respond to their community.

One aspect is a registration of volunteers into a database. Criteria needs to be established for when an individual is entered into the database. Some possible considerations:

It also needs to be determined if those trained will be registered as emergency workers. This provides liability coverage from the state. See the Liability section for more information.

Finally, consideration needs to be given to a badge or form of identification. Will it be issued? By whom? Will it vary for amount and type of training? What information will be included? At what point will it be issued? Will it expire? On what schedule? Which criteria determine renewal?

All of the registration components require additional staff time and resources that need to be taken into consideration when developing a program.
